Junior badminton giants China and Japan will face off early at the YONEX SUNRISE BWF World Junior Team Championships 2025, having been drawn into Group E of the Mixed Team Championships.
The group stage draw for the Suhandinata Cup, which will be held from 6-10 October in Guwahati, India, took place on Friday 8 August.
Defending champions and third seeds Indonesia have been placed in Group C alongside Türkiye, Romania and the Netherlands.
Top seeds Thailand will headline Group A, which also features Denmark, Slovenia and the Cook Islands. Second seeds and hosts India will compete in Group H with Hong Kong China, Nepal and Ghana.

This year’s Mixed Team Championships will once again follow the team relay system, first introduced at the 2024 edition in Nanchang, China, after receiving positive feedback from players and officials alike. Under the updated system, matches will be played as the best of three sets up to 45 points, with each set consisting of five matches – one from each event: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
After the group stage, teams will be paired with others of similar rankings from different groups, continuing through knockout rounds until all final placements are determined.
In the individual events, BWF will also trial the 3×15 scoring system as part of a broader testing and analysis programme.
Both initiatives were approved in April by BWF Council at the Annual General Meeting in Xiamen, China.
