The qualification period for next year’s TOTAL BWF World Championships in Nanjing began 1 May 2017.
While players will understandably be more focussed on this year’s Major Events and other competitions on the circuit, it might be a good idea for them to keep the qualification period in mind for the next World Championships.
Qualifying is over a 52-week period; the World Ranking of the last Thursday of April 2018 will be used to determine the eligibility of qualifiers.
Nanjing will be hosting the 24th edition of the World Championships. It will be the third city in China – after Beijing in 1987 and Guangzhou in 2013 – to host the World Championships.
Fans will be particularly interested to see if veteran warriors like Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) and Lin Dan (China) maintain their form over the next year and are able to stay on as top contenders.
This year’s TOTAL BWF World Championships are being held in Glasgow from 21 to 27 August at Emirates Arena.
